Everybody can empathise with the daunting feeling that dealing with a property sale brings. With such a large amount of money on the table, you don’t want to take any chances. A lot of things can make you feel nervous when selling a house – everything seems like a risk from financial climate to location perception. Real estate agents are there as a person you should be able to trust to give you more information about the sale, home value and best way to market your property. A good real estate agent should be able to calm any concerns you have about selling your home and get you the most for your property.
There are a few things you want to look for in a real estate agent, and a few tips to finding the best one to help you sell your property. You are looking for somebody to get you the most out of the sale, so taking the time to find a good one and looking through their past credentials is extremely important.
Ask for a sale’s history. Agents have the freedom to embellish and boast all they like about previous sales and deals that they have brokered, but by asking for a recent sales history you will be able to see how they have performed in the past six months. See what locations they have sold in, what the average price range of the houses has been, their success rate and whether they have historically given the better deal to the seller or the buyer.
As well as reviewing a sales history, it wouldn’t be too much to ask for a couple of references as well. Ask to speak to a couple of their previous clients. Find out if they got as much as they wanted for their home and how they found it to deal with the agent. Getting some feedback can put your mind at ease. Find out if the agent practices full-time or part-time. Some people sell real estate on the side of another job, and while they might broker a good deal it can be reassuring to know that the agent is dedicated and full-time.
A good real estate agent can mean not only the quick sale of your house, but sometimes thousands of dollars. Spend time choosing a good one, and do your research before you settle on whom you want to sell your home for you. Sometimes the agents who charge that little bit extra commission are the ones who are going to get you the best price for your house, making them worth the investment.
