What is Theatre System?

Home cinema is also known as a home theater. It is an audio-video system that reproduces the movie theater experience. Theater system is equipment that is set up in a private room of your house or at the backyard of the home. It all started back in the 1950s in the United States, where a camera and projector became affordable – often projected with a small projector, portable projector without sound.

Initially, Home Theater consisted of large cathode ray tubes. As the technology evolved in the 2000s and viewer experience is enhanced.

It all started with a Kodak 8mm film projector, which became affordable with both upper and middle-class families. In the 1990s, watching movies at home has become a leisure activity for all families. Beginning in the 1990s and continuing throughout the 2000s, home theatre technology progressed with the development of DVDs and other viewing formats of the system. In 2010 affordable large HDTV screens, high-resolution video projectors have ushered in a new era of Home Theater Systems.

Today typically, every household has a home theater. When we go watch a movie in a theater, we experience great sounds that surrounds throughout the theater. Similarly, when we install a Home Theater in our house, the room is surrounded by a similar sound system.

Home Theater mainly consists of the following components,

  1. High Definition TV
  2. Left Front Speaker
  3. Right Front Speaker
  4. Subwoofer
  5. Center Speaker
  6. Right Rear Speaker
  7. Left Rear Speaker

These speakers contain specific channels, i.e., 5.1, 7.1, 11.2, and 5.1.2, where the first number represents the number of speakers and .1 represents the available subwoofers. The 5.1.2 represents five speakers and one subwoofer and two Dolby Atoms Speakers.

A best home theater experience is achieved with the 7.1 system. At a very minimum state, you’ll need the five-speaker system. But to enhance and enjoy the sound and feel like it’s a room surrounded with Dolby Atmos, we recommend you to have a 7.1 system.

It’s all about audio quality – Significant, cinema sound by way of large floor standing speakers as opposed in-wall speakers. An old system is referred to as 2.0 (Two channels, two speakers)

Lets breakdown the benefits of the channels:

  1. For this, if we add a subwoofer, it’s known as 2.1 where two refers to 2 speakers, and .1 refers to one subwoofer.
  2. If we add the central speaker, then it’s known as 3.1 were three stands for three speakers and one subwoofer.
  3. Add two more speakers, and it is known as 5.1, where five refers to 5 speakers and .1 as the subwoofer.
  4. If the system is getting equipped in a larger room, then it requires a 7.1 system.

These days it’s all about authentic sound. How good the system can provide audio. Smaller channels offer you a lesser audio quality. If we go for a bigger audio system anyway, it all depends on the size of the room and how darkened the place is and how spacious it is.

The primary speaker set up is arranging the speakers to the left and right side of the TV, where it becomes a 2.0 Stereo System. Add a central speaker; it becomes a 3.0 system. In the same way, we go on adding the speakers to all sides of the room, where it becomes a 7.1 surrounded system.

When it comes to 5.1.2, we will have 2 Dolby Atmos speakers where those will place in the room, and it is attached to the roof.

Dolby Atmos speakers include in-ceiling variations (flush to the ceiling with the bulk hidden behind the drywall), on-wall, or toppers that rest on top of your rear speakers.

Home Theater buying system guide:

This days Home theater has become a mandatory thing as everything is digital India.

Why are we buying a Home Theater?

We will have to know the purpose of having a Home theater. Why are we purchasing them? Are we buying them to listen to loud music? Or are we buying to watch a great Action movie?

A bigger surround system helps us enjoy every moment. If you’re planning for music or regular movies, we suggest you go for fewer speakers. It’s better to keep it for not more than five speakers.

Size of the room?

It all comes to the size of the room in which we’re going to equip the audio system in the place.

We need to be wise while selecting the audio system while keeping the room size in mind. Fifteen feet long, 12 feet wide, and 8 feet for the ceiling is where you should at least start before thinking about a home theatre setup.

Surround Sound Technology:

Various technologies like Dolby Atmos or DTS-x and Sony dynamic are some of the best technologies available today.

  2. Acoustic Sound Proofing.

Keeping all these points mentioned above, we recommend you to please go ahead and purchase the Home Theater.

Differences between Sound bar and Home Theater:

A sound bar is used for the poor sound, which is provided by Flat HD television sets. A Home Theater is for someone who wants extra sound and would like to enjoy high energy action movies or extra sound for metallic sounds.

Sound Bar is easy to set up, which just consists of wire and bar, which can be easily connected. Whereas setting up a Home theater is a bit difficult and tough to equip in compact spaces.

Conclusion:

On the whole, if you’re planning to go for a Home Theater, just make sure you’re keeping all the points that have been mentioned. The bottom line of how to select a sound bar or a Home theater is mainly making sure we’re meeting certain requirements.
