History of Yamunotri

India’s most precious and second holy river, the Yamuna, takes birth at Yamunotri. Numerous amount of devotees seek blessings from the Yamuna. It is located in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district. This is the first stoppage of pilgrims who visited Char Dham Yatra of Uttarakhand. In 1839 the Yamunotri temple, the Chardham temple, King of Tehri, Naresh Sudarshan Shah, built the temple. Besides this, the hot water spring Surya Kund is near this Char Dham temple. Story

People believe that Yamuna Devi is the twin sister of God Yama and the daughter of Sun. It is also said that sage Asit Muni lived at these places and bathed at Ganga and Yamuna River. But when he became so old and could not visit Gangotri, a small stream of Ganga flows on the side of the Yamuna River.

Goddess Ganga belongs to Gangotri, which is the holiest place in India. This famous and sacred place is the second Chardham Yatra Temple. The River Ganga is the decent and holy river of India. People take holy dips at this place to wash their sins. People believe that one holy dip in Ganga can provide heaven. This divine river originates from the Gangotri glaciers of the great Himalayas. Gangotri temple is situated in the Uttarkashi district of Uttrakhand. Amar Singh Thapa, a Gurkha general, built this temple in the 19th century.

Story

King Sagar sent his 6000 sons and the horse to undertake an Ashwamedha Yagna here. And they lost their horse and traced the horse at Sage Kapila’s ashram. The Sage Kapila was in deep meditation, and the 6000 sons were disturbed him. So he opened his angry eyes and destroyed all 6000 sons into ashes. Kapila advised the grandson of Sagar Anshuman to pray to the goddess Ganga. But he failed at this work. Later, the grandson of Asushman, named Bhagirath, prayed to Ganga, and she came down to the earth. 

History of Kedarnath

The third Chardham temple Name is Kedarnath, the most divine temple in India. The Pandavas built the original temple of Kedarnath. Then Adi Shankaracharya created the present structure of this temple. This temple closes half of the year for heavy snowfall. So devotees come to this place in a specific period.

Story

In past days Pandavas wanted to absolve themselves from their sins during the battlefield of Mahabharat, so they searched for Mahadev Shiv. Moreover, Lord shiv examined them and converted them into a bull and Garhwal side of Uttarakhand. Then he was found by Pandavas and divided into several parts. Further, the parts of his body emerged at five places and were called Panch-Kedar. Also, at Kedarnath, his hump was found, and Pandavas made this Chardham temple. 

History of Badrinath

The last Char Dham location is Badrinath temple, the holiest place in India. Adi Shankaracharya got the statue of Narayan in the Alaknanda River and placed the figure in a cave near the Tapt Kund. A Garhwal King renovated this Chardham temple in the 16th century. The combination of Nar and Narayan is at this holy place.

Lord Vishnu was criticized by a sage and started meditation at this place. Moreover, Lakshmi became a berry tree near him and protected him from Sun and rain after that goddess.
